A day after dropping a pair of games to region foe, Langston Hughes High School, both Douglas County hoops squads came up with huge road wins vs. region & county rival Alexander High School on Saturday night.
The Lady Tigers led the entire night, but showed great resiliency while holding off the Lady Cougars 4th quarter comeback attempt in a 54-49 win. Senior guard, Dymon Cook, led the Lady Tigers with 27 points. Juniors, Jada Richards & Alana Gibbs, contributed with 12 & 11 points respectively. The victory made it 33 straight wins over in county opponents for the Lady Tigers.
In boys action, the Tigers were in control all night, as they jumped out to an early double digit 1st quarter lead. A run to begin the 2nd half helped the Cougars cut the lead to 6, however, the Tigers were able to regain control and finish the Cougars off with a 64-49 victory.
Junior guard Jaylen Jackson lead the Tigers with 16 points. Jonathan Jefferson poured in 13 points off the bench, while Omarion Smith posted a double-double with 11 points, 13 rebounds & 3 blocked shots.
