Boys Varsity Basketball · Smith, Richards receive All-Douglas County Sentinel First Team Selection

After advancing to the GHSA 6A Elite 8 and falling short by 1 point to Brunswick High School, two Douglas County High School varsity basketball players, Jeremiah Smith and James Jay-Jay Richards,  received All-Douglas County Sentinel Boy’s First team selections. At 6-foot-4, Smith was a constant presence for the tigers all season racking up multiple double-doubles and leading the tigers in scoring and rebounding. Richards, a 6-foot-1 guard, was the emotional leader for the tigers playing his best basketball in the postseason, scoring a game-high 22 points in the team’s first round win over Apalachee and contributing 20 points in the elite 8 loss to Brunswick. Both players will be sorely missed however, these two young men are destined for success as they both received full athletic scholarships to Southern Union State Community College.
